                                                      The Big Picture

 
This map shows most of the former Northwest Territories.

Four of our five trips took place in the area shown above. We paddled on the Nowleye, Kamilukuak, Dubawnt, Thelon, Kunwak, Kazan and the Caribou Rivers. This area is generally known as the Barrne Lands.

This map shows the Horton River, the most westerly and the most northerly river we paddled. We started at Horton Lake and paddled to Franklin Bay.

The river that is the most easterly and the farthest south was the Caribou River and is shown above. I underlined it in red to make it easier to find. The Caribou started at Commonwealth Lake and just skirted the tree line.
